Should I Hire a Real Estate Coach?
It’s obvious the primary reason for anyone seeking to hire a coach is solely based on future growth.
Most of us are seeking outstanding, phenomenal results instantaneously. As we have learned, most things just don’t appear that easily. Science often tease us with technology that can shorten the growth process of just about anything that’s growable. It has the tendency to cause the curious mind to wonder if some things are best produced using the quickest methods.
This is not a post to pass judgement on technology, but I will give my opinion (based on experience) on how I “feel” about Real Estate Coaching/Mentoring.
The first question I think everyone showing interest in pursuing real estate investing on a higher level should ask themselves is:
What are my short-term and long-term goals for my real estate business?
If 10 investors were randomly picked to give their answers to this very important question, it would probably return 10 completely different answers, depending on how precise everyone’s goals are. Most people would probably include; earning more income, building wealth, quit my job, etc. but those goals from a real estate business perspective, are similar to asking an adolescent kid, “What do you want to do when you grow up?”
One of the issues most novice encounter when seeking advice, coaching/mentoring from any expert, is not knowing exactly what it is they are seeking to accomplish over a specific time frame. These key points help make a coach’s task more achievable. I learned this the hard way, having such broad goals made it harder for me to aim and hit those things I really hoped for.
After experiencing repeated setbacks, or the stuck in neutral affect from scattered thinking with my real estate goals, I learned to aim my focus on those things that caused the best returns on the time spent, which is something I picked up at a training event held by my very own real estate coach.
I think we all agree that for us to learn new information, we must find someone who has already traveled the path while becoming successful doing so. Normally this is done by reading a book, an article, podcast, videos, etc. which are great ways to help build a foundation, but the biggest problem with this avenue alone, is hitting a ceiling in your real estate investing arena.
It’s stated that, it took Thomas Edison at least 10,000 failures to figure out what didn’t work during the invention of the light bulb. I’m sure that most in today’s day and age can’t even imagine the time this task must have taken. So, although it was time well spent, I’m sure there were moments he felt like time was an issue.
Which brings us to the next question.
Is it worth the price it will cost me?
Only you can answer that question.
Depending on how far you’re traveling your business, will determine how much growth you are open to receive.
There’s a saying, “When the student is ready to learn, the teacher will appear.”
I agree to a certain degree, I feel that when wisdom is knocking at the door, it is up to the individual to get up and open the door to receive it. My experiences have taught me that nothing comes free and that time is the most valuable gift that any of us can receive. Warren Buffett operates on a Billionaire platform, if it took a million dollars to receive coaching on his level with high chances of operating your business on that level, I’m sure it would be well worth a million dollars to shave decades away from the journey.
It’s often misunderstood how most highly successful individuals make it to their destiny. The average person only sees small portions of their lifestyle, but the things that happen behind the scenes are often ignored. Hard work is a must with or without coaching. Coaching will only aid those who already have or those who are seeking the work hard, play hard mentality and work ethics.
So, from my experience: Is Real Estate Coaching/Mentoring worth it?
My answer is, of course, any coaching is worth it, knowing that the individuals you are selecting for help has the wisdom and heart to give you exactly what you are searching for. Yes, it will take time and some work to find the right fit for your growth, but after it’s all said and done, it’s priceless!
There are no substitutes for true experience.
Time waits for no one.
